Mahogany body with a set mahogany neck and a slender C-shaped profile with full shoulders in every register, measuring .805" deep at the 1st fret and .875" at the 12th. On the bound ebony fretboard, the stock frets have well-rounded crowns and plenty of meat, showing virtually no wear. The guitar plays easily up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod.
 
The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock sports the original set of gold banjo tuners which turn very smoothly, hold pitch well, and are a vintage-correct option no longer available on current standard line Gibson Firebird models. This Firebird weighs in at 8.8lbs.
